Q. Who is eligible to become member of the Chapter?


Any member of the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accounts of India) who is living in Australia can become member of the Chapter.

Q. How do I Become member of the Chapter?


Please select "Join Us"¯ from home page of the website and then complete application online. After completion you will receive Welcome letter at your given email address. Welcome email will provide details of bank account and procedure to upload your membership certificate. Please note that you will be enrolled as a member of the Chapter only if we receive payment of membership fee and self certified copy of membership certificate issued by ICAI. You will not be eligible for membership privileges unless these conditions are fulfilled.

Q. What are the membership Fees?


Membership Fees of the Chapter are defined Appendix 3 of the Constitution of the Chapter.

Membership fees for the calendar year 2009 are as follows:-

Enrolment before 1st July 2009:- $120.00

Enrolment after 1st July 2009:- $60.00

Q. Do I have to pay membership fees to Sydney Chapter of ICAI, if I have paid membership fee to ICAI?


Sydney Chapter of ICAI is registered as a not for profit organisation in Australia. ICAI and Sydney Chapter of ICAI are two different organisations and are managed separately. Membership payment to ICAI does not include membership of Sydney Chapter of ICAI.

Q. How do I make payment of membership fee?


You can now make payment online by using your credit card. Please enter your name and membership no. and then click on Buy now button to make payment.

Q. How many User id's and password will I receive?


All members will receive two separate used ids and password. First set of User id and password will be emailed to you immediately after registration. This user id needs to be used to access some contents stored on website for the benefit of members.

Another set of user id and password will be emailed to you after we receive payment of membership fee. This needs to be used to access your emails. All members will have their own personalised email address to communicate with outside world. You will have unlimited space to store your emails. Please select "Access Email tab on the website to access your mailbox.

Q. How do I access Members Area?


You need user id and password to access Members Area section. User id and password will be emailed to you in the welcome letter sent to you immediately after registration. However, your user id and account will be activated only after we receive payment from you. Please send email to support@icai.org.au if you have paid membership fees and your account is still not activated.

Q. How do I change my website password, registration details?


Members can update/change any of the contact details (address, phone nos., email address) other than membership no. of ICAI. Please login to the website with your first set of user id and password and then select tab Change password and registration¯.

Q. How many CPE credits I can get for every meeting?


Members are eligible to receive 2 CPE Hours for every meeting. However, some times, duration can be more and in such case, members will be eligible to receive credit for 3 CPE Hours. Sydney Chapter of ICAI generally obtains prior approval from CPE Committee of ICAI before organising any CPD meeting. Details of the meeting, time, venue and CPD Hours are emailed to the members in advance.

Please note that CPE credit is proportionate with the time of attendance. If any of the members come late or leave early, then CPE credit will be reduced to that extent.

Q. What are the venue details of the meeting?


Unless informed otherwise, all meetings are conducted at Club Burwood, 97 Burwood Road, Burwood (Phone 02 -9744 8686) between 6 .00 PM to 8.30 PM on every third Wednesday of the month.

Q. How do I access CPD details from ICAI?


Please visit www.cpeicai.org and register your details. If you are accessing website for the first time, then your user id is ICAI Membership no and password is CPE followed by your membership no. If you still cannot get access, then send email to cpeadmin@icai.org with your details.

Q. How will I renew my membership with Sydney Chapter of ICAI?


Your membership will be renewed automatically if:

You continue to remain member of ICAI

You make payment of membership fee before 31st of March of the same calendar year.

Q. Can I attend CPD meetings if I have not paid membership fee?


No. You can not attend CPD meetings of the Chapter unless membership fee is paid. We prefer not to accept membership fee in cash, hence please remit funds before attending CPE meetings.

Q. What should I do if I have migrated recently and can not afford to make payment immediately?


We fully understand difficulties faced by new migrants. We do not wish to put in any financial hardship by asking you to pay membership fee immediately. At the same time, we can€™t waive membership fees as it will be detrimental to the interest of the other members. Please send email to chairman@icai.org.au and we will arrange to defer payment of your membership fee. We request you to pay fees when your situation improves. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any help to you.

Q. What are the current CPD requirements of ICAI?


CPE Credit Requirements for the rolling period of three years starting from the calendar year 2008, as appearing on the ICAI Website and published in February 2008 issue of the journal `The Chartered Accountant, are as under:

All the members who are holding Certificate of Practice (except those members who are residing abroad), unless exempted, are required to:

(a) Complete at least 90 CPE credit hours in each rolling three-year period of which 60 CPE credit hours should be of structured learning.

(b) Complete minimum 20 CPE credit hours of structured learning in each year.

All the members who are not holding Certificate of Practice or are residing abroad (whether holding Certificate of Practice or not), unless exempted, are required to:

(a) Complete at least 45 CPE credit hours of structured/unstructured learning in each rolling three-year period

(b) Complete minimum 10 CPE credit hours of structured/unstructured learning in each year.

Q. How do I share information with other members of the Chapter?

Q. Can I have refund of fees?


No, Fees once paid is non-refundable. Once members registers with us and pays fees, we have to create additional capacity in our monthly CPE seminars.
